Portland Cement (CEM I & CEM II)

General-purpose Portland cement for a wide range of applications including foundations, slabs, brickwork and concrete structures. Available in 25 kg and 50 kg bags. PPC and AfriSam stocked.

Rapid-Set Cement

Achieves early strength gain in significantly less time than standard Portland cement. Ideal for fast-turnaround jobs, repair work and applications where quick loading is required.

Premixed Concrete & Mortar

Premixed products combine cement, sand and aggregate in the correct ratios — simply add water. Ideal for smaller jobs, DIY projects and repairs where batching facilities are not available.

Building Sand & Plaster Sand

Washed and graded building sand for use in mortar, plaster and concrete mixes. We stock both building sand and finer plaster sand in bulk bags and per cubic metre.

Aggregate & Stone (13 mm & 19 mm)

Crushed stone and gravel aggregate for concrete mixing, drainage applications and landscaping. Available in 13 mm and 19 mm sizes.

Reinforcing Mesh & Bar

BRC mesh sheets, binding wire and reinforcing bar (rebar) for reinforced concrete slabs, foundations and retaining structures.

What is the difference between cement and concrete?

How many bags of cement do I need per cubic metre of concrete?

For a standard 1:2:3 mix (1 part cement, 2 parts sand, 3 parts stone), you will need approximately 8–9 bags of 50 kg cement per cubic metre of concrete. This varies based on the required strength, the grade of concrete and the specific mix design. For structural work like foundations and suspended slabs, we recommend consulting with an engineer for the correct mix specification. Our team can help you calculate quantities for your project.

Can I use premixed concrete for a foundation?

For small, non-structural applications such as fence post footings, garden steps or minor repairs, premixed concrete is perfectly suitable and convenient. For structural foundations, floor slabs and larger pours, it is generally better to use freshly batched concrete from a ready-mix supplier, or to batch your own on site using the correct mix design for the required concrete strength. Our team can help you determine which is appropriate for your project.

What is the shelf life of cement?

Cement has a shelf life of approximately three months when stored correctly in a dry, well-ventilated area, off the ground and protected from moisture. Once cement has been exposed to moisture or air for extended periods, it begins to hydrate and lose strength, which can result in weak concrete. We keep fresh stock moving regularly, but always check the manufacturing date on bags when purchasing, particularly if storage conditions are uncertain.
