What is the difference between PVA and acrylic paint?

PVA (Polyvinyl Acetate) paint is water-based and is most commonly used for interior walls. It’s affordable, easy to apply and dries quickly. Acrylic paint is also water-based but has a higher resin content, making it more durable, more washable and suitable for both interior and exterior use. If you’re painting a high-traffic area like a hallway or a kitchen, acrylic is usually the better choice. Our team can help you decide which is right for your specific wall.

How many litres of paint do I need for one room?

As a general guide, one litre of paint covers approximately 6–8 square metres per coat on a smooth, previously painted surface. A standard bedroom (approximately 40 square metres of wall surface) would need roughly 5–7 litres for two coats. Textured or unpainted surfaces absorb more paint and will require more. Bring us your room dimensions and we’ll help you calculate exactly how much you need.

Can you mix custom colours in-store?

Yes. We offer an in-store colour mixing service. You can choose from colour fan decks in-store, bring in a photo reference or a physical colour chip, and we’ll mix a paint to match. Speak to one of our team members for assistance.

What paint should I use for bathroom walls?

Bathrooms require a paint that can handle moisture, humidity and occasional splashing. We recommend a washable acrylic or a dedicated bathroom paint with mould-resistant properties. A satin or semi-gloss finish is also advisable as it’s easier to wipe clean than a matt finish. Our team can recommend the best product from our range for your specific bathroom.
