What is the difference between an impact driver and a drill driver?

A drill driver is a versatile tool that can drill holes and drive screws using adjustable torque settings. It applies continuous rotational force. An impact driver also drives screws, but uses a rapid hammering rotational action (impacts) that delivers much higher torque — making it ideal for driving long screws, loosening stubborn fasteners and working with hardwoods or dense materials. An impact driver is generally faster and less tiring for large numbers of screws, but cannot be used for drilling. For most general use, a drill driver is more versatile; for heavy fastener driving, an impact driver is more effective.

How do I choose the right drill bit?

The right drill bit depends on the material you are drilling into. For masonry (brick, concrete, block): use a carbide-tipped masonry bit with a hammer drill. For wood: use HSS twist bits for small holes or spade bits and hole saws for larger holes. For metal: use HSS (High Speed Steel) bits, ideally with cutting oil. What safety equipment do I need on a building site?

The minimum PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) for most building site work includes a hard hat (safety helmet), safety boots (steel-toed), safety glasses or a face shield, and high-visibility vest.
